What is the German Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte)?
The German Opportunity Card is also known as Chancenkarte. This is a new visa program designed to attract qualified individuals from all over the world. It allows you to enter Germany without a pre-arranged job offer and gives you up to a year to look for a job.
The Opportunity Card is issued based on a point system that evaluates qualifications, work experience, language skills, age, and other factors. Providing flexibility, this program recognizes qualifications acquired in foreign countries and offers an opportunity for part-time work and a pathway to a residence permit.
Basic Requirements for Application
To apply for the German Opportunity Card, you must meet certain basic requirements:
Qualification
You must have a recognized qualification such as a university degree or vocational training (at least 2 years).
Language Skill
You must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of German (A1 level or above) or English (B2 level or above).
Financial Sufficiency
You must be able to support yourself financially during your stay in Germany and have valid health insurance (e.g., Blocked account).
Scoring (Min. 6 Points)
You must score at least 6 points based on various criteria. Once this number of points is reached, all applicants are considered eligible. There is no competition based on the number of points after meeting the minimum requirements.
If you have a foreign professional or academic degree fully recognized in Germany, or if you received your university degree or vocational training in Germany, you can apply for the Chancenkarte immediately without needing to collect points.
